IRF Global Celebrates its 75th Anniversary
The International Road Federation (IRF Global) is proud to announce its 75th anniversary. For three-quarters of a century, the IRF Global has been a leading organization in promoting the development and maintenance of safe, efficient, and sustainable road and transport systems worldwide. Founded in 1948 in Washington, DC, the IRF Global has played a significant role in shaping the world’s road infrastructure, contributing to the growth and prosperity of economies around the globe. Today, the IRF Global has a global network of members and partners, including national and regional road associations, government agencies, academic institutions, and private sector organizations. Together, they work towards a common goal of building and maintaining safe, efficient, and sustainable road infrastructure for the benefit of all.
The International Road Federation together with the Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Centre (University of Qatar) and the support of Khatib&Alami is organising a professional training course on “Introduction to Road Safety Audits”. The course will be held on 30 May – 01 June 2023, in person, at Qatar University. This training course aims to introduce the procedures and requirements for developing Road Safety Audits, and the importance of conducting these audits and implementing their recommendations in improving the status of traffic safety. It will also cover methodologies and cutting-edge technologies that have been field tested to reduce traffic injury risk through auditing & inspections.
V International Conference Progress of Recycling in the Built Environment will take place from 10 to 12 October 2023, in Weimar, at the Leonardo Hotel and at the IAB Weimar gGmbH. The abstract submission platform is now open here until 15 April 2023. The conference is organized by the Weimar Institute of Applied Construction Research ‑ IABgGmbH (Germany), in cooperation with the Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil (Portugal) and the Universidade de São Paulo (Brazil) and have the institutional support of RILEM, VITO and EDA. THE LATEST POLICY AND REGULATORY DEVELOPMENT RELATED TO ROAD TRANSPORT INFRASTRUCTURE AT EU LEVEL
Access the IRF World Road Statistics 2022 for Free. Data will now be accessible for free through the IRF WRS Data Warehouse platform. IRF provides insights into the sector and beyond by annually publishing the World Road Statistics (WRS) and by facilitating analysis and use of data via the IRF Road Data Warehouse. Produced since 1964 by the International Road Federation (IRF), the WRS have become throughout the years an invaluable reference tool for stakeholders who want to analyse, understand and report on worldwide, regional and national trends and developments in the road sector and beyond. Thanks to the support of the TotalEnergies Foundation and the Michelin Corporate Foundation the 2022 Edition of the IRF World Road Statistics are now available for free through the IRF Data Warehouse Platform.
The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is commemorated on the 3rd Sunday of November each year to remember those killed or seriously injured, draw attention to the need for a more appropriate and just post-crash response for road traffic victims and their families, and call for accelerated action on road safety to save lives.
The objective of the 27th Conference of the Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) is to accelerate global climate action through emissions’ reduction, scaled-up adaptation efforts, and enhanced flows of appropriate finance able to ensure a ‘just transition’. The ERF and other leading organisations have come together to restate the sector’s firm commitment in a joint statement.
